Dammit, this sort of thing makes me mad.
Those fucktards who said that Marine recruiters are unwelcome intruders need to wake up and smell the Bill of Rights. You can protest ‘em, if that’s your inclination. You can ignore ‘em, if that’s what you want to do… but choosing the USMC as the group you’re going to call “unwelcome and uninvited?” and trying to kick them out of town?
Fuck you.
My take? Even if the WAR is wrong, the MARINES are right. That’s all I’ll say.
I’ve still got a fever. Sorry if I’m a little cranky.
Love to all. Even you, Code Pink.

Oh, yeah. It’s that kind of thinking that makes people think liberals like me are crazy. And THAT makes me crazy.
You’re absolutely right, disagree with the war, but the soldiers and Marines must do what they are told. That’s the way it works.
Feel better, Rich! Sorry you didn’t escape the crud.
This is one of the greatest irritations of living in the Bay Area. You have local politicians who should be focused on improving our cities, roads, schools, etc instead they waste our time and tax payers money by grand standing and making comments that don’t truly represent the entirety of their constituents.
Their liberal extremism is as scary as the right. There is only one view that is tolerable and it is their view. They don’t mind trampling the freedom of others as long as they get their point out. I think it will be interesting to see not only what happens at tonights lecture but in the upcoming local elections for the Bay Area.
Yeah. I noticed they went around the bend a while ago. That’s why I took the badge off my blog.
Sad really. Because this war needs an organized protest. But not a bat-shit crazy (and questionably unconstitutional) protest.
feel better, yo!
Bacchus is right. Extremism of any form is dangerous and it undermines the efforts of sane people who would otherwise agree with the protest or issue at hand.
Perhaps they should take a look at the gangs that are so prevalent in Oakland and perhaps ban their recruiters before banning the Marines?
Anyway, I hope you feel better. How is the rest of your gang?
Well said.
WHY do the thinking liberals never make the news? For Pete’s sake!
I completely agree.
I’m comforted by the average age of the protesters shown on the news - boomer or older. That kind of lunatic leftist nonsense should die with that generation. What I find worrisome, though, are similar protesters in Pittsburgh who staged a week long sit/stand-in in front of the Army recruitment center near Pitt’s campus. Those folks were mostly Gen X and younger.
Funky Dung’s right, it’s the old guard Berserkley-ites who flunked out in 1974 and never left town. Actually some of them did finish (not because their research was particularly rigorous, but because of the climate of the time) and are teaching, and thus never left town.
Rich- Sometime you make a lot of sense. I hope we can meet some day and see how much this liberal and conservative have in common.
It’s amusing to watch liberals say exactly the same thing conservatives do, or see them say the same things about leftist nuts as they do about right wing nuts.

By the way, the left has been doing this to the military for years. It’s taken moderate liberals as long to notice as it did for me to figure out that Bush has shredded the Constitution. Lets hope its not too late for all of us.
